Constellation still in debate – Private Sector moves ahead

Constellation is still in debate in Congress.

However some commercial companies are preparing to build f.i. a capsule to ferry astronauts to the ISS.

Boeing and Bigelow Space signed a partnership.

President Obama wanted to stimulate the private sector to develop human space capabilities.

Als Orbital Science Corporation and Spacex are in to designing such capsules to the ISS. (with funding from Nasa)

Boeing and Bigelow have the CST-100 design.

Boeing did not announce when the spacecraft would be ready to fly, and it is not certain which rocket it will launch on.

The company is designing it to be compatible with a variety: United Launch Alliances’ Delta IV and Atlas V, and SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket.

SOLAR DYNAMICS OBSERVATORY

Solar Flare Blowout

The Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) is the most advanced spacecraft ever designed to study the sun and its dynamic behavior.

SDO will provide better quality, more comprehensive science data faster than any NASA spacecraft currently studying the sun and its processes.

SDO will unlock the processes inside the sun, on the sun’s surface, and in its corona that result in solar variability.

This variability, when experienced on Earth, is called space weather.

Space weather can change the ionizing radiation does on polar aircraft flights, disable satellites, cause power grid failures, and disrupt global positioning system, television, and telecommunications signals.

Understanding the science of space weather can lead to a capability to predict space weather.

This capability will allowus to accommodate or mitigate the effects of space weather.

Constellation is terminated – Michael Griffin says he’s not trying to save it

In an interview with Miles O’Brien of This Week in Space Michael Griffin says Nasa should get all the chances needed to keep it delivering good work.

Griffin is pleased with the Spacex Falcon 9 launch. It’s a success.

Where do we go from here ?

There are troubles with the budgets that had been promised to the Constellation contractors by Nasa.

The last word is not said.

Keep following the news.

Ares – is it still alive and kicking ?

The decision of the Obama administration to stop all activities on Constellation (going back to the moon) had also an impact on the Ares Conception (new connection of USA with ISS – Space Shuttle retires begin 2011)

Here you find an image of the Ares I-X Flight Test. (October 28, 2009)

Nasa has made 5 years of progress on the Ares concept.

Boeing added to the development.

I don’t know what’s happening now with the concept Ares at this present day.

Do you ?

More solar activity means heavy solar weather

Hello there,

More solar activity means that the solar wind is going to be more aggressive to hit our Earth.

Here you see a solar eruption.

Nice to view but not so good to receive the results on Earth.

It can disrupt communication satellites, electricity etc.

Let’s hope for the best.

See you,

Bye,

SPACE NEWS THIS WEEK !

Hello,

How are you ? I hope you had your good times !

Many things happened this week.

We had an impact on Jupiter – our Falcon 9 Test Launch – FY2011 destruction of Nasa Constellation !

Above the giant planet where an asteroid hit it on June 3rd, 2010.

Of course nothing visible on that image.

Above the Falcon 9 Test Launch.

About Constellation and Orion :

Hope they find a new job for the Constellation employees and workmen.

We don’t go back to the Moon.

Mars is farther than ever.

And here on Earth there’s pollution.

BP can’t close the oil spill.

Hope they succeed !

Bye for now.

I am back to tell you more about astronomy and space exploration

Have you seen that beautiful picture that the Solar Dynamics Observatory took some time ago of an erupting sun ?

Here is it :

Sun viewed by SDO on 30032010 Wallpaper

Isn’t  that just a fantastic view. A ring of fire emerging from the Sun ; our local star.

Greetings,
